  • Useful Telephone Numbers
To call Barbados from a UK number the code is: +1(246) Housekeeper (Arlene) - Tel: +1(246)254-4804 Property Manager (Christina) - Tel: +1(246)262-1612 Taxi (Perry Haynes) - Tel: +1(246)266-3336 Glitter Bay Concierge - Tel: +1(246)422-3410 Glitter Bay Security (Main Gate) - Tel: +1(246)422-3205 Police - Tel: +1(246)211 Holetown Police - Tel: +1(246)419-1700 Ambulance - Tel: +1(246)511 Island Care Ambulance (Private) - Tel: +1(246)435-9425 Fire - Tel: +1(246)311 Grantley Adams Airport - Tel: +1(246)428-7101
  • Access to Fairmont Hotel
The Fairmont Hotel is next door to our apartment building and has a short-cut-gate from our carpark giving direct access to the hotel. This is really handy for a sneaky sundowner of a quick bite to eat. The code for the gate is c1984x. The Fairmont Hotel has two restaurants, one in the main building and a more casual one next to the pool. On Sunday afternoons they also have live music at their beach bar, which is their water-sports facilities on the beachfront.
  • Air Conditioning
It's hot in Barbados, so we all want the air conditioning on whenever we are home. The units are serviced regularly, however, we do not encourage them to be left on when you are out of the apartment as it is costly and bad for the environment. When our housekeeper is in the apartment she always turns them off and opens the doors and windows to allow in fresh air. Under no circumstances should the air conditioning be on at the same time as leaving doors open as this will blow the units. TIP: At night leave the air conditioning fan on low with the temperature at 21 degrees, this should be perfect. Alternatively, just have the ceiling fan on all night. Master Bedroom: Eco Setting - 21 Degrees Temperature - Mode=Dry - (and then press the LED button so there is no illumination on the unit when you sleep!) Bedroom 2: Set to 19 Degrees Temperature - Fan = Low.
  • Banks
There are several banks in Holetown. All have cash machines. Banks are generally open 8am - 3pm Monday - Thursday and 8am - 5pm on Friday. They are not open on Saturdays, but many of the petrol stations have cash machines if you need to withdraw money at the weekend.
  • Beach Advice & Warnings
When on the beach please obey the safety flags. A yellow flag posted at the beach means that the sea conditions are risky and caution should be exercised when swimming. A red flag indicates that there should be no swimming at all.
  • Beach Towels & Loungers
As you arrive at the beach, the beach attendant's hut is on the right-hand side where you can collect your towels each morning. We recommend asking for two towels per person for the loungers. The beach attendant will show you to your allocated loungers and parasol for the duration of your stay. You can also order your beachside drinks from the beach attendant from 11am
  • Birds
Please do not feed or encourage the birds, even on the terrace. Despite being cute, they unfortunately make extra work for the Housekeeper by pooping on the upholstery and soft furnishings, and these stains are impossible to remove.
  • Bridgetown.
Bridgetown is the capital of Barbados; it is situated about 15-20 minutes drive from Glitter Bay depending on the traffic conditions. Shopping is available Monday to Friday 8.30 - 5pm and on Saturday 8.30 to 12 Noon. Shopping hours are extended during the Christmas period.
  • Car Hire
We highly recommend Stoutes Car Rental as they deliver and collect the car directly from the apartment if required which saves hanging around at the airport. We usually get the car dropped off the morning after arrival, and then collected the day we depart. If you prefer to pick-up from the airport directly when you land we can also recommend Hertz or Sixt. There are additionally many car rental companies on the island, and Christina is very happy to arrange everything for you. Please feel free to call or Whatsapp her on +1(246)262-1612 to arrange this for you. A valid driver's license is mandatory plus a local visitor's permit (which the car hire company will provide for you).
  • Catamaran Cruises
A must while on vacation, Enjoy a relaxing day sailing the Bajan West coast, while stopping to swim with the turtles and snorkel over the incredible multi-coloured reefs. Lunch is served onboard with a fully stocked bar. Just call Christina and she will arrange everything for you.

  • Lost Keys
The Concierge at Glitter Bay does hold spare keys to our apartment. If you lose or forget your keys outside of office hours, you will need to ring the housekeeper or your property manager. Please make a note of our telephone numbers and keep them in your mobile phone / wallet / beach bag. The housekeeper does not have a car, so you will be required to pay for a taxi from her home to Glitter Bay and home again if you need her to come and let you in. A charge is made for replacement keys.
  • Maintenance Issues
Please report any maintenance issues to your Property Manager or housekeeper, or leave her a note if you are out for the day and there is a problem inside the apartment. We endeavour to get all issues fixed as soon as possible. Given Barbados is a small island, and the pace of life here is pretty relaxed, sometimes it takes a little longer to get things fixed, than it would back home! We thank you for your patience in these circumstances.
  • Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes in Barbados are non-malarial, however in rare circumstances you can catch Dengue Fever or Chikungunya so it is best to take care against getting bitten. Neither are fatal, but both can be extremely debilitating. If you suspect that you have Dengue Fever or Chikungunya, do not take Aspirin or Ibuprofen but do seek medical attention immediately. Thankfully as we are on the coast where there is more of a breeze so you are less likely to get bitten than if you are inland. Measures to control mosquitos at Glitter Bay are taken regularly. We highly recommend that you wear mosquito repellent when you go out in the evenings. You could also purchase vape mats at the supermarket and plug them in at night. We keep all the doors to the apartment shut when we are chilling on the balcony in the evening to avoid mosquitoes entering!
  • Music System
The music system is a Sonos system, with three speakers, a stereo pair in the lounge and a speaker on the balcony. The system will be "signed out" of the owners account. But if you have your own Sonos, you can login and listen to your library of music from the cloud. When logged in to Sonos, the Balcony speaker has voice control, so you can say "Hey Sonos....." and ask it to play an artist, or album or playlist throughout the apartment. Be sure to logout at the end of your stay If you dont have Sonos, it is also possible to play music from all Apple devices, for instance your iPhone, using Airplay features of the phone to "send" music to the speakers of the Sonos system. You could login to Apple Music, Amazon Music or Spotify on your phone and then using Airplay "send" the music to play in the apartment.
  • Pest Control
To avoid creepy crawly outbreaks please ensure that you do not leave food out in the kitchen. Please keep food in sealed containers or in the refrigerator. Also ensure the lid of the bin is closed. The apartment is sprayed once per month by a pest control company.
  • Pharmacy
There is a pharmacy located inside the Massey supermarket in Holetown. There is also one inside the Sandy Crest Medical Centre in Holetown. Tel: +1(246 419-4911
  • Restaurants
Variety is the spice of life' and Barbados truly lives up to diversity in the culinary arts. The Islands fresh fish has always been an appetising choice. Most restaurants welcome walk-ins; however it is a good idea to make your reservations in advance especially from December to April. Please check out our restaurant guide here.
  • Security
Barbados is generally a safe island, and we would like you to enjoy a safe and happy holiday. Crime takes place all over the world and we would ask guests to exercise common sense: Please close all doors and windows and lock the apartment when you go out, remembering to take your keys with you. We recommend this for security reasons and also to keep birds out of the apartment. Use the safe in the bedroom for your valuables. Please do not leave jewellery, electronics and money lying around. Our housekeeper has a master key for the safe should you experience any problems with re-opening it. Please be sensible with your belongings when swimming by the pool or in the sea, and keep valuables hidden out of temptations eye. Obviously, never invite new local friends from the beach back to the apartment under any circumstances whatsoever. Whilst out and about on the island, we recommend that you do not give your address out to anyone and please be vague about where you are staying. We have 24-hour security patrols at Glitter Bay, making the complex very safe, but would ask guests just to be sensible. Glitter Bay Security (Main Gate) - Tel: +1(246)422-3205
  • Smoking Policy
Twin Palms has a NO SMOKING POLICY. We ask that you respect the owner's wishes and do not smoke in the apartment. Smoking is permitted around the bar area by the beach.
  • Supermarkets
The nearest supermarket to Glitter Bay is Massy's Store located in Holetown. It has a fabulous selection of food, and additionally stocks a large range of Waitrose items too! The opening times are: Monday - Saturday - 8am - 8pm Sunday - 9am - 4pm. Alternatively, there is a new supermarket called Clifton which has opened at Lime Grove.
  • Taxi
We use Perry, who is fantastic! - Tel: +1(246)266-3336

The apartment is equipped with cable television (flow) and Apple TV. There is a remote for turning on the TV and the "Flow" Remote is to change the channels. There is an Apple TV remote for Apple TV, and if you have an iPhone there is a remote control app that you can pair with the Apple TV so you can control the system from your phone. Apple TV is connected to the HDMI 1 input of the TV and Cable TV to HDMI 2 The Apple TV will be "signed out" of the owners account, but if you have your own account you can login and watch all your favourite programmes from your library of movies and TV series. Be sure to logout at the end of your stay. Apple TV also has the ability to mirror your iPhone/iPad/Mac screen to the TV for other streaming services.
  • Turtles
All sea turtle species are protected by law in Barbados. Turtle Hotline: Tel: +1(246)230-0142 The hatching season for hawksbill turtles in Barbados runs from mid-July through to mid-October and hatchlings usually emerge between 6pm and 6am. The eggs (which look like ping pong balls) will take approximately 60 days to incubate and hatch. We regularly have turtles nesting here at Glitter Bay, and if you are lucky enough, you might see their babies hatching and running to the sea! Very exciting!
  • Water Sports
If you would like to water ski or jet ski, please negotiate a rate with one of the water sports vendors along the beach.
